Welcome to Whaupley Gundogs:

Putting Cocker Spaniels First

Hello, we are Andrew and Fiona Robinson, we specialise in cocker spaniels and are now based in Cumbria having moved recently from North Yorkshire, and we own and run Whaupley Gundogs.

Andrew is on the ‘A’ panel of the Kennel Club field trial judges for spaniels and has made up five Field Trial Champions and gained field trial awards and wins with over 41 other cockers in the UK. Andrew has judged trials in Norway, Sweden and Finland including the Norwegian and Swedish Spaniel Championships. He has judged the British Cocker Championships three times, in 2008, 2013 at Sandringham, Norfolk and 2019 at Tollishill, Berwickshire.

We both take a great deal of care in trying to ensure our cockers are of a nice cocker type and temperament and try to produce a genuine all-round dog rather than an out-and-out competition animal only suitable for trials. Without exception, all of our trial dogs have worked on normal shoot days during their competition career.

We feel strongly that as cockers become more and more popular, it is important to maintain a wide genetic diversity within the breed and work hard to keep our distinct bloodlines.

With over 30 years’ experience of owning and training cockers, we know the importance of matching the right puppy or older dog to the owner’s requirements; always keeping the welfare and happiness of the cocker uppermost in our minds.
